Sheriff Marty V. Donini acknowledges that the vehicles are being stored on the property of a former Special Deputy (who is now deceased) at no cost. He further states that the storage yard owner "could" charge up to $17 per day per car to release the vehicles. The property owner has made no public statement regarding the possibility of charging now for a service they willingly provided, at no cost, prior.
However, there was a "deal" on the table to just sign over all of the 62 titles to Michael Belford, the son of the deceased property owner. The negotiation tactic was to "save the County" the financial hardship that could arise by removing the cars from the property.
Can you say "Shakedown"? Extortion?
What are these cars Really worth? According to the inventory, provided by Donini, there are 60 Crown Victoria cars, ranging from model years 1998-2010. Also, two 2012 Dodge Chargers.
This price reflects a 1998 Crown Victoria with 200,000 miles and in Fair Shape.
What if they are 100% scrap?? Click this link to see how scrap prices are calculated.
Using these resources, are those 62 cars really worthless?

During this mornings County Commissioners meeting, Commissioner Coleman revealed that she had been contacted by a local business owner. He offered to purchase all the vehicles and move them at his own expense.
You can see that explained by Commissioner Coleman here, at 32 min point.
The question now becomes, do we bend to the strong arm tactics of Michael Belford, who threatens the possibility of charging the County for services that his Father offered at no cost? Or, do we accept the legitimate offer to purchase and remove the vehicles by a local businessman (who certainly sees value in the investment)?
Are we a County that accepts a "Shakedown" motivated by greed and opportunity?
Or, do we hold to the well established deal with the property owner and let a legitimate investor make a business decision?
I will never stop saying #CHOOSEYOURPORTSMOUTH
