Certainly, we will not just "take it on the chin" by an elected official.
Scioto County Commissioner Bryan Davis went on a lengthy rant, today, at the Commissioner's normal Thursday morning public meeting.
He started by mentioning our News Site and then proceeded to state how angry he is over a video that we did not publish, but did allow to be posted.
Other than the thumbnail, a screen shot, and the title; the entire video was their own meeting on Tuesday. (The title: "Scioto County Commissioners Admit to Knowledge of Radioactive Contamination – Did Not Inform Public") Today, he openly admits prior knowledge. Yet, he talked about getting the facts straight, journalism is dead, and properly sourcing the material. The material was 99% their own public meeting.
Here is our Rebuttal to that public shaming by an angry Davis.
See the meeting from this morning, in it's entirety, right here.
Here is the video post that made Mr. Davis so angry.
This video was taken down, briefly.
It has now be restored to preserved the record.
NOTE: In this video, Davis says they knew 1 month ago. As he was telling us to get "our facts right" he said they have known for 2 months.
Finally, compare that to the actual meeting, as it took place live.
You have all the information. Where has our reporting or posts been less than accurate? Davis says "It's not true". The entire video is their own meeting. Check our sources, you say? Is your public and official press meeting not a credible source?
The disrespect the entire room, (with one exception) showed the 2 expert witnesses was appalling. If anyone acted like that while they were pontificating, they would certainly not be welcomed back.
They exposed themselves. They were caught. They lashed out at a media organization that just happened to be the largest source people rely on for truthful reporting. All the while, we were thanking them over and over for their cooperation during the election night results. We gave many interviews to Davis as he sought re-election.
Our platform has increased their meeting views by many times over. Because of our reporting, people are more informed about local government than ever before. Instead of a healthy relationship, Mr Davis chose to take a cheap shot.

Davis contends radiation found in Otway was minuscule
While reports appearing on social media have set off a storm of controversy, during the regular meeting of the Scioto County Commissioners on Thursday, Nov. 7, Commissioner Bryan Davis defended the board for not having “released” information on possible radioactive contamination in northern Scioto County, specifically in Otway.
The issue apparently was an extensive topic of conversation during a public meeting held Saturday, Nov. 2 in Piketon. The meeting purportedly was to discuss the status of an independent third-party investigation looking into alleged contamination leaking from the long defunct Portsmouth uranium enrichment plant, commonly known as the A-plant.
Davis noted the amount of radioactive materials, first reported as americium, although Davis referred to neptunium, was over 1,000 times less than the allowable amount established by the federal government.
It should be noted the testing site was set up and readings were taken by the federal Department of Energy. They were first reported in a 2017 Annual Site Environmental Report (ASER) released earlier this year.
Public release of the ASERs routinely run about two years behind, a DOE spokesperson reported previously. However, a 2018 ASER for the Portsmouth plant was supposed to have been released sometime late this year according to the same DOE spokesperson.
