Daylight Savings Time Forever?

Writer's picture: Mark CraycraftMark Craycraft

State Senators Kristina Roegner and Bob Peterson want to stop changing clocks twice a year.

The federal law does not require any state to observe Daylight Saving time at all.

If the Ohio bill were to pass, it would be unlikely the federal government would allow it to take effect.

Constitution’s Supremacy Clause prohibits States from establishing laws that are contrary to Federal Laws.

Florida, Washington, and Tennessee have all passed and signed legislation adopting permanent Daylight Saving Time.

The Ohio Senate Bill has had 3 hearings in committee.

If it is approved by the committee, then it has to be passed by the entire House.

Finally, the Governor would need to sign it.

There are only 13 months left in the current session. The possibility of a "Fast Track" to permanent Dailylight Savings is slim.
