At apx 5:15 am, officers responded to the 5300 block of Wilson Ave in Sciotoville after reports of shots fired. Within minutes, Portsmouth Police converged on the scene. It was discovered that a male was struck by a bullet in the head. The injury was not severe and the suspect(s) had fled.
It appears the suspect(s) may have taken a female from the location. The caller stated she left of her own free will, but was concerned about her safety.
A BOLO was issued to the County and Ohio State Patrol for the black Chrysler 300 with OH plate EQZ4214
Portsmouth PD checked several locations in Sciotoville they believed the suspect may frequent. In addition, Scioto County Sheriff deputies checked possible locations in West Portsmouth.
Ohio State Patrol kept an eye out along 52, in case the suspect headed toward the Greenup Bridge or Huntington.
At this time, the suspect remains at large. If you see the vehicle described in the BOLO do not approach, but contact 911 immediately.

The shooter has been identified as Kareem Caldwell aka "New York".
According to Portsmouth Police, there were significant amounts of his hair at the scene.
He remains at large.
Any information should be sent to the Portsmouth PD or call 911.
As we released from the radio traffic, a female only known as Michelle left with Caldwell after the shooting. It is said she left of her own free will.
This photo has been twice verified by sources close to the scene to be that female. No other confirmed information about her can be released, at this time.
