The terrible accident (that happened on US 52 eastbound in Sciotoville) yesterday had the whole community talking and feeling the pains of sorrow for the loss of a local resident.

Teresa Spriggs, 57, of West Portsmouth was a pedestrian walking along route 52 just before 7 a.m. Thursday morning. Two cars were also traveling along beside each other. When Ms. Spriggs was seen walking along the highway, the closest car tried to swerve and miss her.

What resulted was a two car accident involving a pedestrian. Ms. Spriggs was taken to SOMC and (shortly after) died from her injuries.

We have compiled the exclusive audio, from EMS, as they managed the scene.

Ohio State Highway Patrol Sgt. John Howard issued this statement: "In this particular case, you have a woman wearing a black shirt making it difficult to see. You can only react to what you can see and if you couldn't see her until last minute you're options are so limited.”
