Rideshare companies are weighing in on Ohio's plan to stop requiring front plates on our cars.
Uber and Lyft made official requests to Republican Senate President Larry Obhof. They want to make it mandatory for Ohio drivers to keep license plates to both ends of their vehicles.
Both encourage the riders to double-check the license plate listed on their app before entering a vehicle.
This is in response to the incident that made national headlines when 21-year-old University of South Carolina student was murdered.
The student mistakenly got into the wrong car thinking it was an Uber vehicle. Tragically, she fell victim to a commonly seen car (black Chevy Malibu) and got in expecting it was the Uber she ordered.
The events turned deadly and her body was discovered callously discarded of some time later.
The law allowing Ohio Drivers to not keep a front plate will be effective in July.
Will the last-minute pleas of these rideshare giants, make an impact?
